Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important official stated the attack left him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
